Are you looking for a fancy new updo? Well fancy-looking hairstyles don’t need to be complicated. This updo is stylish, classic and will look great with a sparkly dress for the party season. And while some updos require lots of pinning and a whole can of hairspray, this one only needs a hair tie and and a couple of hair slides.
Step 1. Section your hair
Start with your hair poker straight – that way, you shouldn’t get flyaways and tricky-to-tame pieces. Grab two small sections of hair from the crown of your head (one from each side) and tie the two together in a classic, singular knot.
Step 2. Knot it up
Select another two small sections of hair (again, one on each side) from underneath the first bits and add them to the two bits you already have (which will now be crossed over). Make another singular knot, bringing in the hair you had before and the new pieces too.
Step 3. Keep it going
Repeat this same process all the way down your hair, bringing in extra sections of hair each time and remember to knot it and cross it over.
Step 4. Secure it
Once you’ve knotted all the way down to the nape of your hair, complete the ends with another knot so that you have an extra couple of inches completed past where your hair grows. Then secure it with a hair tie, leaving any extra length of your hair untouched.
Step 5. Loop it up
Then, to finish off you’ll need a couple of hair grips to hide the remaining length of your hair. If you have short hair, then you’ll be able to loop it up underneath the final knot. If you have long hair, then split your ponytail in two and secure one half up underneath one side of your hair and the other half on the other side. Whichever works best for you, both options will just need a little spritz of hairspray and then you’re good to go!
